Norkol’s NAMI Partnership | National Alliance on Mental Illness

Norkol is pleased to announce that as of July 2017 we are officially partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as a StigmaFree Company. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental health conditions. What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.

NORKOL’s Contribution

To participate in mental health awareness, Norkol will be wrapping packing news distribution in green wrap in order to match the NAMI StigmaFree and mental health awareness color. The color green is internationally recognized as the symbol for mental health awareness. By using this color, we hope to draw more attention to this significant and life impacting cause. Additionally, Norkol will be donating a portion of net proceeds from packing news sales to NAMI in order to aid this nation-wide movement to increase awareness, provide support, and promote hope.

From our inception in 1968, Norkol has operated as a family-owned company. In staying true to our roots, we continue to extend our family values to the relationships we build with the community around us, and that includes supporting mental health initiatives. Even back then, founders Norbert and Mary Ellen Kolinski believed in transforming everyday problems into solutions, just like NAMI strives to help others in their daily struggle with mental health. We hope that in partnering with NAMI, we can further reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and transform treatable, preventable struggles into inspiring success stories.

Join Us In Supporting NAMI

Millions of Americans, 1 in 5 or nearly 60 million people, face the day-to-day reality of living with a mental health condition. NAMI offers help and hope through a no-cost HelpLine and networking opportunities, support group and education programs and public education initiatives. They improve lives and takes a stand to end the stigma that prevents so many from getting the help they need.
