Norkol adds APP’s Bio Natura recyclable, plastic & PFAS-free food packaging paperboard to its portfolio of food packaging solutions

Norkol Converting Corporation announced today that in an effort to achieve its sustainability goals and lower its environmental impact, it will now offer APP’s award-winning, recyclable, compostable and plastic free Foopak Bio Natura paperboard.

Available to Norkol through Charta Global, APP’s exclusive strategic partner in the US, Bio Natura was developed with a proprietary innovative nano aqua-dispersion technology which replaces harmful petroleum-based and plant-based plastic coatings. This allows the product to breakdown in as little as 12 weeks.

Designed to meet the global demand for sustainable food service packaging, Bio Natura paperboard is both curb-side recyclable and plastic-free. Created for both hot and cold food or liquid items, it can be used in microwave and conventional ovens and complies with the European Commission Regulation 10/2011 and Regulation 1935/2004. It is PFAS-free, meets Halal requirements, and is FDA-compliant, REACH and BfR certified for direct food contact.

“Following California’s recent recycling and plastic-free legislation, other states have begun adopting similar and even more strict sustainable packaging bylaws,” said Paul Weibel, Director of Business Development at Norkol. “We needed a tested, proven and market-ready solution to meet this quickly evolving marketplace, and Bio Natura exceeded all our expectations – forward looking with its innovative product solutions and  ahead of the curve in meeting our supply chain, customer and consumer needs.”
