Norkol More Than Doubles Annual Donation to National Alliance on Mental IllnessFebruary 26, 2019
NORTHLAKE, IL (February 26, 2019) – Norkol, one of the largest independently owned paper and packaging providers in the nation, has reaffirmed its commitment to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) by more than doubling it’s 2017 annual gift in 2018. Half of the total donation has gone to the national organization headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, while the other half was provided to a local NAMI branch in Illinois.
Since July of 2017, Norkol has publicly supported NAMI after announcing their official partnership as a StigmaFree company. Each year, the paper and packaging converting operation pledges to donate a minimum of $5,000 from the profits of their Packaging News & Moving Pads Division. Norkol’s continued success has allowed them to more than double their promised annual contribution for 2018.
In addition to contributing a portion of their net proceeds from packing news to the cause, Norkol also wraps its packing news distribution in green wrap to match NAMI’s official color, which is internationally recognized as the symbol for mental health awareness. Norkol hopes that their public advocacy will draw more attention to both the stigma of mental health issues, as well as the hope and support available. Executive Vice President and COO, Mike Kerr, had this to say about Norkol’s commitment to the cause:
Mental health is something that impacts everyone — about 1 in 5 people experience mental illness at some point in their life. It takes vocal support from both corporations and individuals to raise awareness and work towards a better system. The leadership team at Norkol is proud to be a part of that movement, and we hope other businesses will join us.
Norkol is an independently owned converter and distributor of commercial printing paper, providing flexible packaging products, nonwoven materials, industrial packaging products, and other daily essentials nationwide. As early innovators of waste-reducing, eco-friendly strategies and providing superior service since 1968, Norkol continues to find ways to transform problems into solutions for each one of their customers.
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. With the help of 500 local affiliates, NAMI offers help and hope through a no-cost HelpLine, networking opportunities, support groups, education programs, and public education initiatives.
